Art

“Learning through and about the arts enriches the experience of studying while at school as well as preparing students for life after school. Arts subjects encourage self-expression and creativity and can build confidence as well as a sense of individual identity.” – Tate
The Art curriculum nurtures pupils’ passion and appreciation within the world of art, and develops their ability to think creatively.  It allows pupils to build tools for self-expression, and to explore and to understand their own emotions and the world around them, developing a visual language to express thoughts, feelings, ideas and observations.

We study a variety of artistic processes and mediums, building confidence through practice and refinement of skill, as well as promoting independence. We investigate a diverse range of artists, across different cultures and time periods; enhancing pupils’ cultural capital and enabling them to extend their artistic ideas and analytical abilities.  We provide a language beyond that of academia, allowing all pupils, regardless of ability, to engage in and communicate through visual means.
